The Postcard-Herdwick

Story

I see Herdwick sheep every day out running the fells. They stay outside through the wind, cold, and rain, completely at home on the ridges. This piece came out of wanting to capture that presence in a soft, tactile layer of wool.

The base is cut from Japanese wool fleece in heather slate—extremely soft against the skin and lightweight to wear. The sheep motif is drawn by hand, cut from contrasting natural off-white Japanese wool fleece, and blind-stitched onto the front entirely with a hand needle.
