The Yard Jacket

Story.

Whenever I picture my father, he is out in the yard, busy fixing something in his blue jacket.

It wasn’t kept for best, but worn day after day until it became a second skin—weathered by sun, with sawdust on the cuffs and pockets full of stray screws, a tape measure, and a carpenter’s pencil. He didn’t need to say much; slipping into that blue coat meant something was about to be mended, built, or set right.

To me, it was never just workwear. It was the quiet reassurance that whatever broke could be repaired, and that everything around us was steady.

Technical description.

Silhouette: Cropped, relaxed fit for comfortable layering (photographed on a 175cm model)

Material: 100% Japanese cotton-linen blend in washed indigo

Pockets: Decorative curved flap accents on the chest, two roomy lower flap pockets, and two hidden side-seam pockets

Cuffs: 5 cm wide elasticated cuffs for easy, comfortable wear.

Fastenings: Front metal snap buttons, each applied by hand

Care: Machine wash delicate at 30°C inside out, or dry clean; line dry naturally.

Made for you: Patterned, cut, and sewn to measure in my studio (allow 2–3 weeks)
