Fishing with my grandpa

Story.

Dear grandpa,

you have always believed in all my endeavours and seekings. Your joy was my joy, and your creativity would always add up to this joy of mine. I so recall the first little fishing rod you’ve made me from a stick, two meters of nylon line, and a float improvised from a thick, light reed, to which you tied a hook. And to me, it was the most special one. You would help me dig for those after rain worms at the far end of the garden and convince grandma to give me some polenta as bait. Then we’d happily go by (the Mures) river with our friends to fish, and as the evening was falling, we’d go back home with a lot of small carp. Grandma would fry them in cornmeal, and we’d eat them together. Do you still recall how joyful I was that I had caught them? Once, I slipped into the river with a bag full of carp and let them all go. I felt the ground slipping under my feet; after so much effort, everything was gone. But little T. shared her fish with me. We were such good and gentle kids, and how we loved each other. I miss them… I miss you.
